Running an animal sanctuary takes care, time, and dedication—but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Volunteers help with daily tasks like feeding, cleaning living spaces, and general maintenance around the sanctuary. No experience is needed. All volunteer opportunities are scheduled in advance to ensure the best experience for both guests and animals.
Volunteering offers the chance to spend time with and connect with the animals. It can benefit your emotional, physical, and mental well-being, and studies have shown that time with animals can help reduce stress and lower blood pressure.
You can also gain valuable professional and life experience. Volunteering helps you develop new skills, build on your strengths, and enhance your resume. It can also provide meaningful references for future opportunities.
Most importantly, the farm angels benefit from your time and care. They want to feel safe, comfortable, and loved—and with your help, they can.

Wear jeans or comfortable pants, a t-shirt, and closed-toe footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty. The farm angels are very friendly and often eager to greet visitors.
Please leave jewelry—especially loose or dangling items—at home. If you have long hair, it is recommended to keep it tied back, as some animals may mistake it for a toy.
Bringing gloves, hats, water, and other items to help protect you from the Arizona elements is encouraged.
For safety reasons, volunteers should wear appropriate footwear and attire suitable for working around animals. No flip flop please.
Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age.
Volunteers between the ages of 10 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, relative, or sponsor over the age of 18.
To participate, volunteers must certify tha they are physically comfortable taking part in typical farm-related activities. Additionally, they must certify that there are no health-related reasons that would preclude participating in this activity.
While volunteering, please refrain from using electronic devices.
The farm angels are very friendly and may climb, jump, or move unexpectedly, so it’s important to remain attentive while working.
If you need to use your phone, please go to the front of the property.
For everyone’s safety—both yours and the animals’—we ask that volunteers remain focused during activities.
Photos: After all activities are complete, you are welcome to take photos.
When you volunteer, please plan to arrive at your scheduled time and remain for the duration of your visit.
Effort and coordination go into preparing for each volunteer session, so if you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible—ideally at least 24 hours in advance.
To ensure your volunteer time runs smoothly, we highly encourage members to complete the "Accident Waiver and Release of Liability" form prior to their scheduled volunteer date(s)/time(s).
